One of the most sought-after teenagers in the country has been hit with a groin injury.

Jaeger O’Meara, 17, is the subject of major trade interest as one of the four players Greater Western Sydney can trade the rights to draft in November.

The classy midfielder is considered one of the top two players in the country in his age-bracket.

But the West Australian announced last night that his season has been rocked by a groin injury.

“Happy to be home but disappointed about the grade one tear in my groin!” O’Meara tweeted this morning.

The blow is likely to force O’Meara to rest after completing the national under-18 championships in Melbourne.

However, it is unlikely to affect his draft standing as clubs are already jostling to trade for the slick playmaker.

It is believed clubs are preparing to off-load a first-round draft pick and an established player for O’Meara.

Gold Coast, West Coast, Fremantle and Essendon have all been strongly linked to O’Meara.

GWS can trade four players born between January to April in 1994.
