Clark tells Freo he’s a Demon
A little more than 24 hours after telling Fremantle officials that he was committed to returning home to WA and being a Freo Docker in 2012, Mitch Clark has tonight advised the club that he has instead accepted a revised offer from Melbourne.
Fremantle general manager of football operations Chris Bond said that the club was not in a position to match the second of two offers Melbourne had put to Clark, who has spent the past six seasons with Brisbane.
“If we were to match Melbourne’s offer to Mitch it would make him the highest paid player at our club over the next four seasons and we are not prepared to compromise our list management model to achieve that outcome,” Bond said.
“It’s disappointing that Mitch has decided not to follow through on his commitment to sign with Fremantle. We accept his decision and wish him all the best for the future. The club looks forward to entering the national draft with two first round selections in picks 16 and 20.”
