Rookie Clancee Pearce has been elevated onto Fremantle’s senior list and will play in the round 7 match against Richmond at the MCG on Saturday afternoon.

Classy half-back Greg Broughton is the other inclusion after he missed the round 5 win over the Western Bulldogs with back soreness.

Experienced midfielder Ryan Crowley, forward Jack Anthony and youngster Jesse Crichton have been named as emergencies.

Pearce gets another crack at AFL level after the position on Freo’s senior list was made available when Anthony Morabito was placed on the long term injury list.

Morabito hurt his knee last December and required a reconstruction which meant he would miss the entire 2011 season.

Pearce has been Fremantle’s most in-form player in the WAFL in recent weeks, earning the chance to build on his 14 career appearances for the club.

The 20-year-old has flourished in a new high forward role for Swan Districts over the past month, winning 28 possessions and taking 10 marks in Swans’ four-point win over Peel Thunder in round 7.

Fremantle had the bye in round 6, which senior coach Mark Harvey said would be a positive for his side despite results thus far showing sides have not fared well the game after a week off in 2011.

“We’re a little bit different because of geographically where we are and the travel requirement on our players,” he said.

“We have freshened our guys up and made sure they are still on top of their game through skill and structure.”

Fremantle has not won at the MCG since round 4, 2007 when it defeated Melbourne 137-92, and the club has only tasted success against the Tigers once in seven occasions at the venue.

But Harvey was unconcerned about perceived away hoodoos emanating from the media, saying his current squad was more interested in, and has been creating its own history.

“Quite regularly this year I’ve read that, wherever we play, that it’s been a hoodoo,” he said.

“We’re breaking down those barriers quicker than the articles being written.

“Our guys are looking forward to playing at the MCG, particularly early in the season.”
