The Fremantle Dockers have appointed former player Matthew Burton in a part-time role as the club’s ruck coach for 2011.

An inaugural Freo Docker, the 40-year-old father of four played 147 AFL games, including 70 for Fremantle and 77 for North Melbourne, before retiring in 2003.

Senior coach Mark Harvey said that the club was delighted to have secured Burton as its ruck coach.

“As a player Matthew was a skilful exponent of the ruckman’s craft, and as a ruck coach we believe he has a great ability to share that knowledge with our players,” he said.
