World’s Greatest Shave
Fremantle Docker Antoni Grover is going to be brave and shave his hair off in March to raise awareness for a cause he feels passionately about – the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave.
Leukaemia hits close to home for Grover, who lost a close friend to the disease in August, 2008.
“It’s important for me, as an elite sportsman and a member of the community, to get behind this event and help raise awareness about something I feel very strongly about,” he said.
“I lost someone very close to me, and that made me realise how something like Leukaemia could happen to anyone.”
Grover’s putting his recruiting hat on his soon-to-be-shaved head and gathering Fremantle players to join him in losing their locks.
“This is all about the people and the families who are suffering from this illness, so I’ll be hitting up a few of the boys to get on board for the World’s Greatest Shave,” he said.
“I’m not sure how much hair I’ll have left in a couple of years so I’ll do it while I still have some.
“In all seriousness, it’s great that the club is getting behind this initiative.”
The World’s Greatest Shave runs from Thursday 10 March until Saturday 12 March, 2011.
