Fremantle’s pre-season injury woes have continued as midfielders Matthew de Boer and Byron Schammer have become restricted by niggling strains.

De Boer joined the recovery group at training yesterday after suffering a strained hamstring. The injury is a black mark on what is shaping as a big year for the 20-year-old who has worked his way off the rookie list to be included in the Dockers’ leadership group after only 37 games.

Meanwhile, Schammer’s chances of forcing his way back into the best 22 is under threat from a thigh strain. The 25-year-old managed only three games for Fremantle last year despite displaying impressive form for Claremont in the WAFL.

A Fremantle spokesman said both injuries were relatively minor and the pair were expected to rejoin the main group soon.
