Dean Wallis will leave Fremantle to seek a higher football department position – possibly as a director of coaching at a Melbourne club.

Wallis, who has served a 10-year coaching apprenticeship at the Dockers, Essendon and St Kilda, would not rule out applying for the vacant Bombers senior coaching position.

Wallis said he would explore opportunities at all Melbourne clubs, but would covet a return to Essendon.

”It’s not a priority,” Wallis said. ”But understanding that I spent 19 years at Essendon … you definitely know what makes that joint tick and you definitely know the culture and you definitely know the history.”
