MARK Harvey was a very smart footballer.

He is remembered for his reckless courage, but as a 185.5cm centre half-back in a premiership side he needed to know where the ball was going before anyone else on the field.

As a player he was also an on-field coach.

In 1993, he played centre half-back and I was at centre half-forward.

He had worked out that in general play I could lose my man and he could slip into the forward line unmarked and get a goal or two if we swapped positions with a wink and a look.
